Introduction
ARK Crystals wanted to redesign their website and have it serve two main purposes: to educate the user about their products and to sell those products. We helped them achieve both visions by combining an e-commerce and marketing website design.
The
Challenge
Although ARK Crystals sells products like any other eCommerce store, this project had the added challenge of needing to educate the user on how their products work. Because each product is so unique, we weren’t able to use templates and instead had to devise a way to make each product stand out to the user and to sell them on the nature of the products themselves. This required a lot of testing on our end to determine how best to meet all the needs of the client in their e-commerce website design.

The
Solution
We evaluated the existing site to determine what was working, what wasn’t, and how best to improve the design to both educate the user on how the products work, as well as sell the products themselves. Because ARK was a high-end brand that had great photos, we were able to play around with interesting layouts.
We followed a minimalist approach for the marketing website design, letting the high-end photography and the beautiful products do a lot of the heavy lifting with the visuals. We developed an A/B testing plan using Crazy Egg to test certain screens, and then we tweaked our design and website development based on those findings.

Evaluation
We evaluated the existing site to determine what parts of it we could improve upon, and what parts we were able to keep with minor tweaks.
Design
Our approach was a minimalist design because we had a lot of assets from the clients that we wanted the user to focus on.
Crazy Egg allowed us to A/B test our designs and figure out what needed to be tweaked and what was working well.
Testing
Based on the results of our tests, we made edits to the design, such as with the location of buttons to make them easier to find.

The
Deliverables
Below you will find the main deliverables that we created for ARK Crystals. For this e-commerce website design, deliverables consisted of mockups, presentations, videos, one-pagers, site maps, wireframes, the finished website itself, website development, and so much more. Each project is different and requires different deliverables to achieve success.

Project Summary
ARK Crystals had two main focuses on their site: to educate the user on how their products worked and to sell those products. Because they had a lot of existing photos that were of high quality, we took a minimalist approach with our design to let the visuals speak for themselves. Using Crazy Egg, we conducted A/B testing on our designs and made tweaks to them based on the results to optimize the experience for the users.
