Introduction
Going Public® is a brand new docuseries that follows companies on their journey to an IPO. They needed a website that helped tell the stories of their featured companies and allowed people to invest in them. In this UX/UI Design case study, we’ll discuss the process we took to create and develop their new website.
The
Challenge
Going Public® had a branding kit, a streaming deal with Entrepreneur.com, and a lot of raw video content, but they lacked a website. Entrepreneur.com only showcased the main episodes, leaving a need for a home for the bonus footage. Going Public® had a basic site for casting, but we were tasked with the UX/UI design and web development for the new show-focused site, along with digital products like individual microsites for the featured companies.

The
Solution
Because our CreateApe team already had the branding kit in hand, we were able to focus on just the design of the website. We started with research into how and why people decide to invest in a company to help inform our design. Interviews with the stakeholders — investors themselves — helped shed light on the features they wanted to implement, as well as the goals they wanted the site to achieve.
After our research phase, we started planning out the structure of the site. This UX/UI design case study shows how we created site maps and user flows to understand how the user would navigate the site, culminating in a “Click-to-Invest” button that took the user to an investment portal. We started creating the actual design with wireframes, and as those got approved, we ramped up to high fidelity and utilized the branding kit to speed up the process. When the design of the site was approved, we began to develop it.

Research
A discovery phase helped us understand more about the vertical, including why people decide to invest in a company.
We took the Going Public® branding kit and incorporated it into designs, adding unique flourishes here and there, which is part of the aesthetic they were going for.
Design
Development
Utilizing the Laravel framework for its scalability benefits, we developed the designs onto a staging server before migrating to the live site.
Our team inspected every design element of the developed site in order to ensure that everything was functioning properly.
