Introduction
Medikeeper offers a couple of products geared towards improving employee wellness. We designed their COVID Navigator app and improved the UX/UI on modules within the healthcare website design, providing various UX consulting services along the way.
The
Challenge
Owing to the unprecedented year that 2020 was, Medikeeper wanted to create a mobile app that helps companies determine if employees were safe to go back to work by tracking symptoms, testing outcomes, and vaccination status. They also wanted to evaluate and expand upon their existing healthcare website design to see if the modules were user-friendly, as well as create some new features entirely.

They also wanted to evaluate and expand upon their existing healthcare website design to see if the modules were user-friendly, as well as create some new features entirely.

The
Solution
Medikeeper enlisted CreateApe’s UX consulting services to evaluate their existing products, as well as conduct unmoderated testing, usability testing, and interviews in order to evaluate what was working, and what wasn’t. This helped steer us in the right direction when it came time for us to simplify the UX and the UI designs.
For the COVID navigator mobile app design, we essentially took the same approach. We conducted a thorough research process to guide our UX/UI designs, and then we began with low-fidelity wireframes before ramping up the fidelity. We finished our web development strategy by doing some HTML coding before handing it off to the Medikeeper team.

Evaluation
We did evaluations for all Medikeeper products to discover qualitatively what was working, and what wasn’t. It also gave us insight into their existing look and feel.
Research
Unmoderated testing, usability testing, and user interviews gave us feedback on where users were having problems with the existing modules.
With plenty of research under our belts, we got to work in improving the user flows of the Medikeeper products, and creating new features.
Design
For the COVID app, we coded all of the HTML for it before handing it over to the Medikeeper team to finish the rest of its development.

Solution
List
In order to keep things consistent and cohesive, when we updated a module’s design, we documented our changes so that we could apply the same tweaks to the rest of the design. This helped us stay on top of our changes and allowed us to design a solution that functioned as one unit despite having many different modules within it that all had different properties and requested different things from the user.

Project Summary
Our work for Medikeeper was heavily driven by our evaluations of their existing products, as well as the research we conducted to improve upon them. It helped our team design simplified flows that were more user-friendly. For the COVID Navigator app, we wanted to differentiate it from Apple’s version, so we made it a self-test that has the user follow a decision tree-like path to determine if they were safe to return to work.
